Music Ministry

As we enter a new season of worship, our Liturgical Choir invites new members to join us in song. Lift your voices to glorify God and enhance our celebration of the Mass. No audition or prior experience is required, just a desire to praise the Lord through music.

We meet Saturday mornings from 9:00-11:00 am at Mary Mother of Peace to rehearse a diverse choral repertoire for upcoming Masses and Holy Days. The choir sings at the 11:00 am Sunday Mass, as well as at Christmas Mass, Holy Week services, and other liturgical celebrations.

Joining the choir provides a meaningful way to connect with fellow parishioners, build community, and serve our church. Lifting voices together in worship is a powerful form of fellowship and an opportunity to minister to the congregation through inspirational music. Members find great reward in sharing their time and talents, drawing closer to one another and to the divine through song.

Youth ages 14 and up and adults of all ages are welcome.

Contact Paul Szczerowski, Music Director, if interested (contact information at bottom). Let your voice be heard and through song as we will worship our Lord together!

Ring in the new season!

Join our Handbell Choir as we initiate a new season of worship and praise! We are looking for new ringers to add their talents to our enthusiastic group. No experience necessary, just a willingness to learn and make joyful noises together. Handbells are a beautiful way to enhance our liturgical services and glorify God through music!

We rehearse Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm at Mary Mother of Peace and perform monthly during Sunday services. Music reading skills are helpful but we can teach you what you need to know. All ages high school and up are welcome.

Contact Paul Szczerowski, Music Director, if interested in joining us (contact information at bottom). Let's make a joyful sound to the Lord!

The Contemporary Ensemble leads music at the English Masses for both Mary Mother of Peace and St. Michael the Archangel, from the second Sunday after Labor Day through the feast of Corpus Christi.

In addition to vocalists, we utilize many instruments including guitars, percussion, bass and woodwinds, and typically rehearse 60-90 minutes before each liturgy.

This Ensemble is open to all High School youth and adults of the parish. Come join us!

The Resurrection Choir is a group made up of volunteers from the parish who wish to share their musical talents during funeral liturgies.

This group gathers 30 minutes before each funeral liturgy, practices once a month, and will sing the hymns chosen by the family for the liturgy. Funerals will be communicated to the members of this choir by email.

Attendance at every funeral is not required to be a member of the Resurrection Choir. Come when you can and lend your voice! If interested, please contact Paul Szczerowski, Music Director (contact information at bottom).

In dialogue with the Assembly, cantors offer musical support as a gift of service to the people of St. Michael the Archangel/Mary Mother of Peace.  Through sung prayer, they lead the assembly to full, active, and conscious participation for all our parish liturgical celebrations.

The Cantor:

• Proclaims the Word (responsorial psalm) in dialogue with the assembly

• Leads dialogical music throughout liturgy: litanies, psalms, call and response pieces

• Leads verses at communion, allowing people to process at Communion without books

• Teaches new music and supports the assembly learning new liturgical repertoire

• Prays the general intercessions during the Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter seasons.

Through sung prayer, cantors enjoy praising God, growing musically and spiritually, while enjoying each other’s friendship/mentorship. A strong pleasant voice, good sight-reading skills and an openness to learning new musical repertoire is recommended.
